Hi, I am Nikkie and I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Sound Therapist based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. I offer one to one sessions to adults as a Counsellor and group sessions as a Sound Therapist. I am a member both of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and The Complementary Medical Association. My practice both as Counsellor and Sound Therapist centres on the belief that when we are unconditionally accepted and heard, we can overcome even the most difficult hurdles that life can put on our path.

My Background
& Journey

My journey to becoming a counsellor was not a straight forward one. There have been various times in my life where I have needed to approach a counsellor myself in order to seek support when my own life had become ‘lifey’. This process enabled me to understand the options I then had, empowering me to make choices so that I could have opportunities to have my life look how I would like. My being offered an unconditional space to work through all I needed to at these stages in my life, gave me the gift of being able to shape how I wanted things to look for myself moving forward. I became a counsellor to support others to have these same opportunities.

I work in a trauma informed person-centred way whilst pulling from other integrative approaches when required. I have both training and extensive experience of working with trauma, addictions, grief, sexual violence and domestic abuse. I have had positions previously as a counsellor both at Moray Rape Crisis and Moray Woman’s Aid.

My Sound Therapy journey began due to having had a back ground in music. I wanted to combine my love and knowledge of music so that I could offer this in a therapeutic way. I trained and gained my diploma as a sound practitioner/therapist through The British Academy of Sound Therapy. This enables me to offer therapy from an informed and educated perspective using tools such as and including Himalayan sound bowls. I have previously worked closely with the charity Quarriers in this capacity offering sound therapy sessions to groups of individuals who are supported through this organisation.
